Challenges

The customer wanted to reduce its CO₂ emissions but while keeping the fleet as lean as possible and identified material handling equipment batteries as a potential opportunity. This was part of the company’s environmental stewardship and a corporate goal to achieve carbon neutrality. At the same time, the customer wanted to improve operator safety as well as reduce downtimes due to incidents with lead-acid battery handling and maintenance.

Solutions

Because of the energy efficiency of lithium-ion (87% vs 51% for lead-acid batteries), it rapidly became a viable way to reduce CO₂ emissions. A thorough evaluation of the available solutions on the market led to the customer choosing UgoWork, the only company to develop batteries featuring embedded chargers and offer Energy as a Service, which features end-to-end battery life management and support from a customer success team.
